Welcome to BuKalanga Gathering UK
BGUK continues to explore collective group projects and joint
ventures in the United Kingdom and in Zimbabwe in particular,
Plumtree, Matopo, Kezi, Lupane, Tjolotjo, Gwanda, Northeast
and Central provinces in Botswana and many other places where
Bakalanga groups reside.
Our activities are designed as a cultural social
exchange to foster mutual knowledge and understanding between
the people of Bukalanga in Zimbabwe and Botswana and the
people of the United Kingdom, as well as any other interested
persons.
Kalanga is spoken by over 1.5 million
people in southwestern Zimbabwe and around 264,000 in
northeastern Botswana, with strong cultural roots in areas
like Plumtree, Matopo, Kezi, Tjolotjo, and Francistown.
Bordering South Africa and Botswana, Matabeleland South districts have one of the highest numbers of people living and working in the diaspora, particularly in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia as well as Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. The diaspora is a reliable pool of influencers and potential investors who can turn around the district’s fortunes, through capital investments and remittances as well as philanthropy.
